Nervous? No problem! Get Camera-Ready Confident Now!
Hey there, fellow small business superstars! As your brand photographer, I know facing the camera can feel unpredictable and slightly terrifying. (Trust me, I have had to work hard to step out from behind my camera.)
But no worries... the quick tips below will help you conquer those on-camera jitters and prepare you to step into your branding session with CONFIDENCE!
#1 - PRACTICE, PREP & PINTEREST
Like anything in life, practice and preparation will make you SO much more comfortable when the big day comes.
So grab your cell phone. Take selfies, record short videos & experiment with different poses. Start to get comfortable in FRONT of a camera.
Get posing inspiration. Pinterest is GREAT for this. Search for “brand photoshoot poses” that you resonate with and practice the movements on camera or in a mirror.
#2 - LOVE YOUR WARDROBE
SHOP EARLY. Select powerful, yet comfortable, clothing that aligns with your brand. If you have brand colors, incorporate those.
TRY ON EVERYTHING! Now sit, stand, bend, and look in the mirror. Do you LOVE it?? If you don’t feel amazing, pick something else until you do.
PS - Confidence is the most beautiful accessory : )
#3 - CONSIDER PRO HAIR & MAKEUP
Kicking off your session day with pro hair & makeup really does go a long way. "Camera-ready" makeup is not the same as everyday makeup and the pros know how to make you look your best!
Of course the pampering is fun too... but more importantly you'll leave with a confidence boost and an excitement that will carry right into your session.
#4 - EMBRACE IMPERFECTIONS
NO ONE IS PERFECT.
Again, for those in the back... No one is perfect.
As soon as we let go of trying to be perfect, we can have a lot more fun. Genuine, authentic smiles are way more captivating than a big ole’ “cheese” anyway.
So let your personality shine! Don’t be afraid to laugh or be silly. Those “imperfections” add charm and will make your photos friendly and relatable.
#5 - FAKE IT (AND YOU WILL MAKE IT!)
Channel that inner actor!
Even if you’re feeling nervous on the inside, take a deep breath and project confidence on the outside. (We’ll never know!)
Stand tall, make eye contact with the camera, smile & HAVE FUN!
Trust the process.
Your photographer is your creative partner in crime. She wants you to enjoy the session and LOVE your images.
So, be open.
Share your vision.
Ask questions.
Work together.
Tell YOUR story.
