If you’re at home with a newborn, the days can feel long. Like, really long. You’re sleep-deprived and working so hard just to keep yourself fed and a new little human alive.
So, why in the world am I bugging you about photos??
Well, sadly even the best, most well-intentioned, minds in the world can’t retain allll the little details.
You will try. We all do. Hell, I still do. But we just can’t.
You are trying to do allllll the things. But with so much to juggle, there is just no way to remember it all. Kids grow and change at lightning speed. NO ONE can remember it all. We all need a hand sometimes, and photographs are some of the best helpers around!
Not yet convinced? Here are a couple more thoughts:
No one told me.
Our first professional photography session happened when my baby was already 4 months old and then again on his 1 year birthday. And while he was still a little nugget, there is SO MUCH we missed. Our lack of quality photos eventually spurred my love for this business…. but that’s a story for another day : )
In no other year, will kids look so different from beginning to end.
Time is of the essence. Children change unbelievably fast in year one. The difference from 1 month... to 6… to 9 is crazy! And those differences are just begging to be photographed. 100%, you will catch yourself saying, “I can’t believe he was EVER that small…”.
Year one is a FIRST for so many things.
Physically, it's a year of major milestones. Watching your little one learn to sit or pull to a stand, or seeing their pride as they learn to grab their toes or wave, is simply the best. Believe me… you’ll want proof of these sweet moments.
Year one is also a time for the first round of holidays. There is basically a photo shoot waiting to happen every month!
Finally, someone has to smash that cake!
Reaching the end of year one is a huge milestone (for both of you)! Celebrate all the struggles and all the triumphs of that monumental first year. Cake smash photo shoots are among my FAVORITE ever. If you do no other session during baby’s first year of life, please do this one. Bring on allllll the frosting!
Document those fingers, toes and rolls. Photograph the major milestones. And call me if you’d like some help : )
Thanks for reading!
